It’s nearly time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, a favorite holiday here in Denver for those who enjoy margaritas, tequila, and Mexican culture. Here are 4 food and cocktail specials and 6 beer specials you can enjoy on the 5th (and in some cases, beyond).
1. Margarita Flights at Tamayo
Head on over to Denver favorite, Tamayo, for a Margarita Infusion Flight crafted by Chef Richard Sandoval and priced at $18. The margaritas come in three flavors–Strawberry Basil, Serrano for a spicy kick, and Pineapple Sage. If you’re hungry, you can pair these spicy and sweet margaritas with a Ceviche Tostada made with charred Summer Flounder and all the fixings or a grilled ribeye with pork beans, grilled scallions, a bacon-wrapped chile, and cactus salad all served with a warm tortilla. We’d recommend making a reservation, which you can do at their website.
Where: 1400 Larimer St, Denver, CO 80202, United States
2. Mexican-flavored cookies at The Urban Cookie
For a spicy and sweet treat, we’d recommend giving this Cinco de Mayo special a try. Colfax Ave.’s, The Urban Cookie, will be serving up some special and Mexican-inspired flavored cookies unlike anything you’ve probably tried before. Try their Chocolate Chili, which is a rich chocolate cookie with a spicy kick from their secret blend of spices and topped with a chocolate covered dried arbol pepper. Their other special flavor is Margarita that’s actually made with 100% real tequila, alongside lime and topped with crunchy salt and a margarita-flavored frosting. Cookies will be available while supplies last all the way until the 8th.
Where: 2260 E. Colfax Ave. Denver, CO 80206
3. Taco Bell Pop Up at Mister Oso
Here in Denver, we love how creative the chefs get with one-time pop ups and kitchen concepts, and at Mister Oso, you can expect more of the same creativity with their Taco Bell Pop up called Taco Bear. Chef Blake is creating a $30 Taco Bell Platter which comes with Mexican Pizza (everyone’s beloved TB item that’s hopefully seeing a comeback), Gordita Crunches (our personal favorite), Chorizo & Queso Crunch Wraps, and Smoky Fiesta Potatoes. They’ve also got boozy Baja Blasts and Code Reds for you to enjoy. Their menu starts at 12pm and Happy Hour starts at 3pm!
