A family friendly, seasonal activity that always shines around wintertime (aside from skiing) is ice skating. Not only do you get awesome skyline views in rinks like the one in Downtown, but you also get to enjoy unique ones like the rink inside Denver International Airport, that’s open to the public. Here’s our guide to our favorite skating rinks, from where to find them to how much they cost and when they open. Happy skating!
1. Downtown Denver Rink
The Downtown Denver Rink is making its return to the city for this winter season of ice skating. Opening day starts November 21st, with adult tickets at $11 and $9 for kids 12 and under. P.S. Don’t forget to bring your own skates, although they have various sizes available for rent (although every skater has to have their own socks).

2. The Pond at Southlands
The Pond Ice Rink is back in Shoplands, creating a whimsical wonderland right in Denver. Dine at a restaurant in the shops like Pho 90 for hot soup or enjoy hot holiday drinks at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Head to the Town Square from November 11th until February 26th to skate. Admission is $12.

3. Denver International Airport
Denver International Airport is free to attend and what’s better, it’s located before check in, so it’s open to the public. The rink is located in the outdoor Plaza, located between the Jeppesen Terminal and the Westin Hotel, and is open from Nov. 18th until January 1st. There’s a skate shop where you can grab some skates and once you’re done, head to the Tivoli restaurant and brewery for a meal and beer.

4. Edge Ice Arena
On the cheaper side as well, Edge Ice Arena is a family friendly, recreational rink out in Littleton. They open public skate times in November and even offer skating classes if you’re not sure how to do it, but want to learn. Adult tickets only cost $7, and youth ages 6-17 costs $5. Skate rentals are only $3. For a full calendar of their public skating slots in November, you can check here. Remember, it’s required to register online to book a slot.

5. Parker Ice Trail
Over in Discovery Park is Parker Ice Trail, a family friendly skating trail that’s open seven days a week from November 25th to February 28th. Children 10 and under cost $7 while 11 and above cost $9. The design of Parker Ice Trail is unique as it’s not your standard, round skating rink, but, instead, forms a winding path through the park like a river frozen over. This one is definitely one of our favorites to imitate a casual stroll, but on ice.
