With the vaccine going strong and restrictions opening up, it’s an exciting time for the holidays. This year, Cinco De Mayo is officially on in Denver. The city is bringing you fun and exciting parties, cultural celebrations, and even a 5k run. Local Mexican restaurants are holding drink and food specials. And there’s no shortage of family fun and culture to soak up. Check out our list below.
1. Jammin’ De Mayo
This year, there’s a big celebration happening at Civic Center Park, and we can’t wait! For only a $10 cover charge, you can jam out to live music, watch folklorico dancers, and grub on some yummy nachos while the drink specials pour freely around you. This party is in partnership with Jammin 101.5, Number Thirty Eight, and NEWSED, all proceeds will go towards Newsed, a community event corporation dedicated to covering underrepresented populations in Denver. The party is happening May 5th from 4 to 11pm.

2. Cinco De Mayo 5K Run

Colorado Runner Corporation has put together a 5k run Marathon for Sunday, May 5th. Runners can try their hand at this marathon, happening in Washington Park, either in person or virtually. Participants will get a specially-designed T-shirt and medal, as well as food. After the run, keep the party going at Civic Center Park. You’ll be just in time to attend Jammin’ De Mayo. 3. Cachina Kantina
Popular Denver cantina is celebrating Cinco De Mayo with drink specials in partnership with local and national companies. From their Topo Chico hard seltzers, to their Ranch Water, which is made with Dulce Vida Blanco Tequila, Topo Chico, and Lime, to their New Mexican Style Dark Lager from Upslope’s Brewing Company. Don’t forget to try their Dulce Vida Flavor Flight, with Dulce Vida Tequila coming in three flavors: grapefruit, lime, and pineapple jalapeño.

4. Lola Coastal Mexican
Lola Coastal Mexican is doing Baja-inspired Mexican dishes from Battered Fish Tacos to Mussels. This Cinco De Mayo, come grub on their food and drinks specials. From Patron Margaritas (served with lime-coconut paletas) to Whole Pig Cochinita Pibil, to go-to margs. Make sure to make a reservation in advance, as tickets are likely to sell out quickly.

5. Cultura Chocolate
Westwood is holding their first annual Cinco De Mayo special this year with a celebration for Mexican and Mexican American heritage. Part of Morrison Road will be shut down and the free event will take place across RISE Westwood campus. The family friendly event will have Aztec and folklorico dancing, local art and food vendors selling authentic Mexican crafts and food, a car show, and much more!

6. Cervecería Colorado
Cerveceria Colorado will be having a Cindo De Mayo First and Third Anniversary Fiesta. On May 1st and May 12th, at 7pm, you can enjoy special beer releases inspired by Mexican flavors (like the new Mango Rico Tropical IPA), traditional Mexican games, music and giveaways! Admission is free.
