On weird things we’ve seen in Colorado this week, a ghost town for sale that was shared on Instagram. Instagram user Andrew.Vascassenno recently shared his second in a series about a ghost town property for sale, which we believe to be the one posted by Sothebyrealty.
“Located in Lake City, Colorado, the property sits on 305 acres of land,” he begins to say on a video which includes photos of the old, abandoned ghost town. Known as a pretty famous and historic spot, the property is 305 acres of land, was originally founded during the Gold Rush and was settled in 1881.
Listed in benefits of the property were things like ponds, creeks, views of the surrounding area, 31 patented mining claims and historic buildings. And all for the price of $925,000.
According to the real estate listing, when you walk on the property you can “feel the history…” But maybe they mean the ghosts.
Although this particular ghost town is under contract pending, meaning someone has made an offer and the the offer has been accepted, there have actually been a few other Colorado ghost towns available for purchase, meaning there are other opportunities to find the ghost town of your dreams one day. An old listing on Craigslist once listed a ghost town in Cabin Creek for just $350,000, with 5 acres of property that included a Motel 6 and a gas station.
For now, we’re speculating what this old Colorado ghost town in Lake City could be turned into. Maybe a resort is in the cards for the future if permits and safety issues can be sorted.
