Prepare to say goodbye to the 6 p.m. Denver sunset this week.
One thing that makes Denver’s winter months bearable is the long days of sunshine that we get in the summer. Summer never lasts forever, alas, and shorter days are upon us once again. The autumnal Denver sunset is about to cut our evenings even shorter this week.
According to Time and Date, this Saturday, October 30 will be the last 6 p.m. sunset of 2022 in Denver. From October 30 onward, the sun will set before 6 p.m.
On November 6, 2022 Daylight Saving Time will come to an end. After that, we’ll trade in longer days for brighter mornings as we turn the clocks back one hour. The Denver sunset on November 6 will be at 4:52 p.m.
Then on December 21, we will experience the shortest day of 2022—aka winter solstice. On this day, the sun will set at 4:35 p.m. After that, the days will begin getting longer again!
That being said, the sun won’t set after 6:00 p.m. again in Denver until March 9th, 2023. Mark that date on your calendar now so you remember to look forward to the return of later sunsets in March (a time when the hesitant signs of spring in Denver can be frustrating).
In the meantime, we recommend stocking up on some cozy sweaters and seasonal teas (and vitamin D if you experience deficiency in the winter) and making plans to enjoy all the things that fall in Denver has to offer. And, of course, enjoy the last few 6 p.m. sunsets that we have left this week!
