There’s a new Denver resident, and he’s a Linne’s Two-Toed sloth! The Denver Zoo has recently announced the brand new sloth baby–the third of parents Charlotte and Elliot–and they need your help naming it.
The Denver Zoo took great pride in showing off the videos they’ve captured of the new baby on their socials recently in a heartwarming photo.
Since it’s usually difficult to figure out the gender of a sloth, the zoo sent in a hair follicle to the lab to determine gender, and it’s been recently revealed by the zoo that the sloth pup is a boy! With the gender out of the way, the only thing left to solve is the name. Just like they did in the past, The Denver Zoo is holding a name competition fundraiser which is how Wookie got his name.
There are 3 names to choose from–Cappuccino for his beige coat, Wicket which was the runner up from last sloth naming competition in which Wookie won out instead, and Rain, inspired by the tropical climate that Linne’s Two-Toed sloths come from.
You can vote for a name as many times as you like and each vote requires just a $5 donation that’ll ensure the sloth you help name grows up with great care.
You can vote here on the Denver Zoo’s website.
