Come for the potions, stay for the mood.
Mood. Beats. Potions may sound like a classic R&B mix tape single, but it’s actually the name of a new upscale eatery right here in Five Point Denver. What’s more, it’s a Black-owned restaurant serving up delicious and innovative takes on Creole and French-inspired classics.
They’ve just opened last month, taking over the former Dunbar Kitchen and Taphouse space, with a beautifully-designed interior, with warm and inviting exposed red brick and natural lighting, plus, an enchanting green garden patio. The space is upscale enough for a quiet dining experience and fun enough to host live music events and pop ups throughout the summer.
If you’re into having a boozy evening, you can try a flight of three of their delicious new “potions”, perfect for warm summer evenings. Indulgent and sweet, they’re named after classic late night treats: a boozy s’mores cocktail with a toasted marshmallow topper, a peanut butter cup-inspired cocktail, and a more European after-dinner classic, the Midnight Espresso cocktail.
Some of their French and Creole-inspired fare include Sweet Tea-Brined Fried Chicken, their PEI mussels with andouille sausage, fresno jam, san marzano tomatoes and white wine, and their Charcuterie Boards with artisan cheeses and cured meats.
They’ve also got a menu full of delicious desserts, from a pie flight of cheesecake, key lime, and chocolate coulant to their decadent Millionare’s Pie served in a cast-iron skillet. The pie is a chocolate chip cookie and blondie brownie topped with creamy vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate, caramel, pecans, and sprinkles of real gold leaf. Sounds luxurious. Plus, they’ve got a scrumptious looking Strawberry Shortcake if you like non-chocolatey desserts.
Dinner hours are limited, so you can call (720) 630-7641 to make a reservation.
