With the holiday season right around the corner, so begins the start of the themed pop up bar, immersive experience, and the opening of new exciting, horror-themed concepts. Denver’s got 6 excellent Halloween and spooky-themed bars/restaurants/experiences that we are stoked for, and if you want the full scoop on all of them, then keep on reading. (Note: Some bars are seasonal pop ups and some are here to stay all year round.)
1. Spirits Halloween
From the team that brought us Slashers, Spirits Halloween is rising from the dead for its second year in a row. Previously an underground pop up bar in Larimer Square, Spirits has gotten a new location in LoHi and a new and improved menu. The pop up is open every day in October from 4-midnight on weekdays and 2pm – 2am on weekends, and you can order a whole menu of creepy-themed cocktails. The bar, set up like a “haunted diner,” will have drinks like the Blood Bag, a flambéd skull cocktail, and there will be pizzas and re-runs of Hocus Pocus.
Where: 2400 W. 32nd Ave. Denver CO 80205
2. The Black Lagoon
The creepily creative duo of Kelsey Ramage and Erin Hayes are the braaaaainsss behind this creative pop up that’s setting up their spooky shop around the nation, and Denver’s lucky enough to get one of their own. Described as an immersive Halloween experience, expect Halloween-themed cocktails like the one pictured above and spooky entertainment. The bar will open on October 17th through Halloween.
Where: 3701 N Williams St, Denver, CO 80205
3. Honor Farm
From the makers of the Electric Cure and Hell Or High Water Tiki comes a new haunted spirit house, Honor Farm. Described as a spirit house, Honor Farm opens October 7th and will feature a full bar with craft cocktails, late night food, and food events like Drag Brunch and what’s better, it’s not just a pop bar, but a permanent new go-to spot in Downtown Denver. The bar is opening up where Brass Tacks used to be prior to the pandemic and will focus on the bar’s haunted, historical reputation and work in collaboration with Pueblo-themed Fuel & Iron. We’re so excited to see what Lexi Healy and Veronica Ramos have in store.
Where: 400 S Union Ave, Pueblo, CO 81003
4. Slashers
Slashers has been on our radar since it opened back in the fall of 2021 and it’s quickly fallen into the category of Horror-esque Dive Craft bar due to its excellent selection of spooky movies, cocktails, and decor. Some of their recent movies screenings have been Zombieland, The Green Room, The Shining, and more.
