From Wednesday-Sunday, enjoy different can releases and food trucks!
It’s been three years since Novel Strand Brewing opened its doors to Denver, a city already filled with some of the West Coast’s best beer makers and innovators, but always thirsty for more. And if you weren’t aware, Novel Strand is one of 3 breweries here in Denver (out of 425) created by people of color. The three co-owners, Ayana Coker, Chantel Columna, and Tamir Danon (who is also head brewer) wanted to expand the brewing scene in Denver with high-quality, well-made craft beer. From hoppy to funky to sours to classics, Novel Brewing has quite a range, and they’re hosting a special celebration this week in honor of their 3 year anniversary.
For their special anniversary “weekend” (the weekend starts on Wednesday and lasts until Sunday), you can sample some of their favorite food trucks as well brand new cans of beer.
On Wednesday, sample two new cans: Popular Demand, a Kellerpils Lagerbier with Riwaka hops and Una Fria, their brand new Lager de Casa (house lager) with Riwaka hops. On Thursday, there’s a single can/draft release of Vicious Delicious, a 100% Brett fermented sour beer with HBC-586, Strata, Guava, and Passionfruit.
On Friday, they’ll be doing another double can/daraft. For cans, say hello to Green Showers, an unfiltered hoppy beer featuring Amarillo, Huell Melon, Idaho 7, and Mosaic plus, their Falafel Pop, another unfiltered hoppy beer featuring HBC-586, Mosaic, and Nelson Sauvin (7,0% ABV).
Finally, on Saturday, they’ll have their special anniversary special release of Third Time’s Ice Cream, an oak fermented ale with local CO malt and aged hops, conditioned on organic, whole fruit blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Naturally conditioned in kegs and 500 mL cork & caged bottles. Wow! We can’t wait to try. Sunday, you get to drink all the beers, in case you missed one!
As far as Food Trucks go, there’s also a schedule. Flavors of Tobasco is slated for Wednesday, whose menu consists of authentic Mexican cuisine like Quesa Biria Tacos, Burritos with asada, barbacoa, or tinga, or empanadas. Thursday you can try yummy Korean-American cuisine like Kimchi Fries at Mukja, and Friday, PKR (or Pho King Rapidos) will be cooking up a fusion of LA-style Mexican and Vietnamese plates.
The Colombian food truck, El Chulatazo Grill will make its way to the party on Saturday and on Sunday, say hello to Ninja Ramen, a food truck specializing in homemade Tonkatsu Ramen or Summer Noodle Salad.
