The snowstorm was anticipated to be the biggest of the season!
The expected snowstorm in Denver was expected to reach 6-8 inches of snow and it didn’t disappoint. The storm, that has now been elevated to a Winter Storm, hit Denver with 2″ of snow fall per hour and 6-10″ of snow throughout, though there’s possibility for a larger margin.
⚠️We’ve upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning for the Denver metro area! Snowfall rates up to 2″ per hour, gradually decreasing overnight. Totals now expected to hit 6-10″, and can’t rule out locally heavier amounts due to that persistent band of heavy snow. #COwx https://t.co/N4dxou2fNl

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, the snowstorm was anticipated to be the biggest of the season for the Metro Detroit area, as higher inches of snowfall usually fall in towns like Aspen and Crested Butte, which are notorious for larger averages of snowfall each year.
As of this morning, Denver is seeing the heaviest snowfall, though it will gradually decrease as the day goes on. Travel warnings are in place, with suggestions to either not travel or take extra precautions on the roads, which are slick.

This snowstorm has surpassed the November 2020 snowstorm that previously held a record of 5″ of snowfall. As the current snowfall sits between 8-10″ suffice to say, we’ve broken that record.

The good news is that the first week of March appears to be warming up, with mostly sunny skies, so at least we have that to look forward to. For now, travel safe and enjoy the snow.
